'if i said the sky was black you would say its white' typeface on linen, 2021:
Chronic invalidation in childhood is one of the primary catalysts of borderline personality disorder, this piece explores the affects of triggering invalidations and dismissals experienced whilst trying to seek professional therapeutic treatment for the disorder. The wafer thin fabric represents the fragile of the sense of self and the shroud created by pre-existing trauma, whilst the aggressive jumbled typeface explores the way in which further invalidation compounds and destabilises the individual. These works are based on my own personal experience with seeking treatment and the conversations or letters I have received from professionals.
