'homogeneous, part I'   3 wooden boxes with headphone based audio loops, 2017.

(above) installation stills from 'a september exhibition' Arts Letters & Numbers, NY, september 2017.

This three part immersive installation that uses a combination of confinement, sensory manipulation, and audio to explore the constant feeling of discomfort, of being consumed by concerns about the space you take up and how that can manifest in attempts to control that space. The boxes are small in size to create a feeling of claustrophobia and each box features a unique audio track and reflects a different eating disorder.  Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Binge Eating Disorder each have their own box, the work is designed to be experienced one box at a time.

The refined final work will see the placement of 3 steel boxes arranged much like the prototypes above, in a cold space. The use of steel will create hard sharp defined edges to the space and allow for maximum light reduction inside each box. I hope to expand this work during an MFA.
